Harding Project Fellow / Civil Affairs Officer
Major Emily B. Lopez enlisted in the Army Reserves in 2008 and was commissioned from Oklahoma State University as an Ordnance officer in 2013. She was assigned to the 75th Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Sill, OK, where she served as the HHC Executive Officer for the 100th Brigade Support Battalion and, subsequently, as the Battalion S4 OIC. She was then hand-selected to serve as the Ordnance Training Detachment – Sill Commander.
In 2019, Emily graduated from the Civil Affairs Qualification Course and was assigned to the 92nd Civil Affairs Battalion (Special Operations) (Airborne) at Fort Liberty, NC, where she served as the Battalion Plans officer and then deployed as a Team Leader for Civil Military Support Element (CMSE) – Lithuania.
In 2021, Emily was assigned to 4th Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), at Fort Carson, CO, where she served as the Battalion CA Planner, Assistant Operations Officer, and later the Director of Operations for the Special Warfare Planning Detachment. In 2022, during the Russian-Ukraine War, Emily was deployed to Panzer-Kaserne, DEU, to serve as the SOTF-10.1 Executive Officer.
Currently, Emily is a Harding Project Fellow at the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, where she is the Military Editor-in-Chief of the Special Warfare Magazine. Major Lopez will assume company command at the 92nd Civil Affairs Battalion after this assignment.
