Greg Walker grew up on a 200 acre farm in Kirksville, Missouri, with his parents and younger sister. In High School, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves as a Medic before getting accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated from USMA in 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer. He went on to complete his basic infantry training, graduating from Ranger School, Airborne School, and Air Assault School. His first duty station was Fort Riley, Kansas, with the First Infantry Division, where he deployed to Maiwand, Kandahar, Afghanistan as a Mortar Platoon Leader. Upon returning from his first deployment, he participated in the Special Forces Assessment and Selection and began the Special Forces Qualification Course. There he completed Pathfinder School, SERE, and Russian Language Training. After graduating SFQC, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, where he deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan as a Battle Captain. After his second deployment to Afghanistan, he was assigned to Special Forces Operational Detachment - Alpha (SFOD-A) 3331, where he served for 2.5 years, deploying to Eastern Africa as the Detachment Commander. After his time on SFODA 3331, he was selected to be the 3rd Battalion Support Company Commander, where he chose to end his military career and pursue experiences in the corporate and entrepreneurial world. After he left the military, he founded Hatchet Brewing Company and worked at Midrex Technologies, an engineering technology company specializing in Direct Reduced Iron for the Iron and Steel industry, for approximately four years as a Project Engineer and Project Manager. Greg is now an operating owner of Hatchet Brewing Company, a small, independent, and veteran owned craft brewery in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
